Approve amendment to Employee Disability Benefit Plan.

CONSIDERATION OF A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF KNOX COUNTY, TENNESSEE, APPROVING THE AMENDMENT AND RESTATEMENT OF THE KNOX COUNTY EMPLOYEE DISABILITY BENEFIT PLAN TO ELIMINATE THE 90-DAY WAITING PERIOD FOR DISABILITY BENEFITS; REMOVE THE REQUIREMENT THAT A PARTICIPANT EXHAUST ACCRUED LEAVE PRIOR TO DISABILITY APPROVAL AND INSTEAD PROVIDE FOR PAYMENT OF ALL ACCRUED LEAVE UPON APPROVAL OF DISABILITY BENEFITS; AND REQUIRE THAT A PARTICIPANT BE ON APPROVED LEAVE AND NOT ACTIVELY WORKING WITHIN TWO (2) WEEKS OF APPLYING FOR DISABILITY BENEFITS AND DURING THE PENDENCY OF THE DISABILITY REVIEW PROCESS

Motion to approve Resolution R-26-3-903 - Resolution of the Commission of Knox County, Tennessee, approving the amendment and restatement of the Knox County Employee Disability Benefit Plan to eliminate the 90-day waiting period for disability benefits; remove the requirement that a participant exhaust accrued leave prior to disability approval and instead provide for payment of all accrued leave upon approval of disability benefits; and require that a participant be on approved leave and not actively working within two (2) weeks of applying for disability benefits and during the pendency of the disability review process.
