Amend City Charter regarding pension plans, close current plans, adopt new plan.
An Ordinance to amend the Charter of the City of Knoxville, specifically Chapter 412 of the Private Acts of 1923 of the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee, entitled "An act to incorporate the City of Knoxville in Knox County, Tennessee, and to define the rights, powers and liabilities of the same; to fix the boundaries of said municipality, and to repeal all acts or parts of acts in conflict with this act," and all acts amendatory thereto, by amending Article XIII of said Charter, entitled "Pensions," as previously amended, so as to provide that the pension plans currently open to both general government employees (Division G) and uniformed bodies employees (Division C) be closed to further enrollment and a new pension plan for eligible employees (both general government and uniformed bodies) be adopted and established, to effect various transitional and other amendatory provisions related thereto, and further providing for the submission of this ordinance to the qualified voters of the City of Knoxville for approval as provided in Article XI, Section 9 of the Constitution of the State of Tennessee.(Requested by Mayor)

Break pension ordinance into two questions: 1) Close current plans; 2) Substitute current question for: 'Do you want to adopt a hybrid defined benefit/defined contribution plan?'
