Amend City Charter to change primary election date to last Tuesday in August

An Ordinance to amend the Charter of the City of Knoxville by amending Article VII, Section 702 so as to change the date of City primary elections from the last Tuesday in September to the last Tuesday in August, to be held in odd-numbered years.(Requested by Councilmember Della Volpe)

On July 19, 2016, the City of Knoxville, TN City Council adopted “Amend City Charter to change primary election date to last Tuesday in August” by a vote of 8–0.
