From the minutes
“Vice-Mayor Roberto spoke to the passage yesterday evening of Senate Bill 0526 by the Tennessee Senate. He expressed his disappointment at its passage as it will impact the way the City's councilmanic elections take place. He requested Fiona McAnally, Director of Legislative Affairs, to address Council on the current state of the bill. Ms. McAnally stated that the amendment delaying the effective date of the bill to January 1, 2024 will have to be agreed to by the Tennessee House of Representatives.” — Andrew Roberto
“Mayor Kincannon clarified that, that assuming the House of Representatives concurs with the Senate amendment, the passage of Senate Bill 0526 will not impact the City's elections this year.” — Indya Kincannon
